Chrosziel further expands its successful CDM Zoom Servo Drive family
The FR7 zoom motor unit CDM-SFR fits seamlessly into the operating
functions of the Sony PTZ ILME-FR7 camera.
The FR7 Zoom Servo Drive is a compact and universal zoom motor that can be pivoted to almost any lens by simply mounting it on the 15mm rods of the Sony PTZ head. The servo drive is controlled via the Option port of the Sony ILME-FR7. The motor control can be addressed via Sony's camera-specific protocol and therefore can be used seamlessly with the whole ecosystem of the Sony FR7.Due to the included Chrosziel Flexi toothed ring (#206-30), the CDM-SFR can be used with almost any zoom lens even without standard cine gearing.
This opens up a complete new range of lenses to cover the creatives needs from wide angle lenses to long-zoom operation. The FR7 Zoom servo drive unit is slid onto the 15mm rod and swiveled onto the zoom lens. The curly cables ensure safe operation within the full tilt and pan range of the Sony ILME-FR7. The tiny distribution box is mounted to the side of the FR7 base and has a built-in power input. Simply unplug the power supply of the FR7 and plug it into the distribution box. Then plug the power plug of the distribution box into the power input of the Sony FR7. Connect the RJ45 connector of the distribution box into the OPTION port of the cameras base unit (do not connect to the Ethernet port since you need this for the ILME-FR7 communication). Done.FEATURESUniversal zoom motor

Developed for the Fujinon XK6x20 20-120 mm zoom lens the CDM-XK-Z enables ways of creativity that may be impossible just by zooming manually. To simplify the operator’s workflow the zoom servo drive is directly mounted onto the lens by two captive screws.
The weight of the CDM-XK-Z including digital motor, gear, PCB with CPU, screws and cabling is 0.44 lbs. (197 gram). With the zoom servo drive Chrosziel addresses camera operators who are working in the broadcast and documentary sector looking for a reasonably priced zoom servo drive.
_____________________________________________________All camera control signals forwarded
Control commands (e.g. menu / user buttons / focus magnification / camera run & stop) are immediately looped through to the camera via the LANC protocol.
By using a Sony PXW-FS5 or a Sony PXW-FS7 camera with a SWIT battery a D-Tap to a (straight or angled) Lemo compatible 5-Pin power cable is used (Chrosziel order numbers: MN-AB-A with angled Lemo compatible socket / MN-AB with straight Lemo compatible socket). The two Jack-Jack cables are forwarding the control commands from the hand grip.
If e.g. a Panasonic Varicam, Sony PMW-F5 or Sony PMW-F55 are used a combined cable with power and start / stop is required, like a Hirose 4-Pin to a (straight or angled) Lemo compatible 5-Pin cable (Chrosziel order numbers: F55-A2-PCAM-A with angled Lemo socket / F55-A2-PCAM with straight Lemo compatible socket). Also, the two Jack-Jack cables are forwarding the control commands from the hand grip.
Also, Chrosziel offers a variety of power cables with straight and angled plugs for all types of camera power out sockets and batteries including camera run / stop functionality.
_____________________________________________________Chrosziel CDM-XK-Z Zoom Servo Motor: zoom modes
For freedom of creativity the operator may choose from four different zoom modes: EB / Documentary Mode, Live / Hardcut Mode, Silent, and Direct Mode.
EB / Documentary ModeDesigned for long and smooth zoom drives with the CDM-LWZ3-Z it offers slow creeping zoom transitions while keeping the motive perfectly framed.Silent ModeTo reduce the sound of the zoom servo drive the maximum speed of its motor is limited to 40 percent making the setup almost inaudible.Live / Hardcut ModeTo catch the best moments, the Live / Hardcut Mode is useful. It uses 80 percent of the maximum speed capacity of the motor offering fast zoom drives but with Soft Ramping.Direct ModeThe Direct Mode finally uses the full speed capacity of the Zoom Servo Drive. The LANC commands are implemented instantaneously without ramping and smooth transitions. Useful for B camera operators catching snaps shots from the concert.______________________________________________________________How to change zoom modes
You can choose the different modes by pressing the zoom rocker for round about 25 seconds, then the green LED flashes very fast while changing the zoom mode and after that it blinks 1, 2, 3 or 4 times* – depends on the zoom mode you chose (* 1 = EB / Documentary / 2 = Silent / 3 = Live / Hard Cut / 4 = Direct). To cycle through these all you need to do is hold the zoom rocker down one way for a couple of seconds to switch to the next mode, and the other way, hold to reverse.

The CDM-LWZ3-Z2 is designed for the Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ 21-100 mm/T2.9-3.9 T zoom lens (ZEISS LWZ.3). With the Zoom Servo Drive Chrosziel addresses camera operators working in the broadcast, documentary, and related sectors offering a reasonably priced device enabling creative processes that may be impossible while pulling zoom manually.
The Zoom Servo Drive adds only indispensable weight to the setup. It contains one digital servo motor, the gear and a PCB with CPU in one single housing. The mounting of the Zoom Servo Drive makes the operator’s workflow comfortable. Just three captive screws are needed to mount it onto the Zeiss Lightweight Zoom (LWZ.3).
Sony handgrip / other LANC handgrips with zoom rockers are working, too

Chrosziel Light Weight Support 401-FS5
Controlled via Sony smart grip or any other LANC hand grip
Until today, zoom servo drives were operated either by the inbuilt zoom rocker or external zoom devices. A second handgrip controls the camera settings or user commands. Both units are separated from each other and cannot be operated by one single hand.
With the CDM-LWZ3-Z2 Chrosziel was able to unify both functionalities into one single unit. Supported are the smart grips of the Sony PXW-FS5 and Sony PXW-FS7 or any LANC compatible zoom rocker.
For operation the power cable is connected and the two Jack cables with the handgrip and the camera. Once powered the zoom servo drive calibrates automatically the end stops of the lens. To further support the operator’s piece of mind Chrosziel implemented the so called “Soft Ramping”. Instead of having the zooming suddenly and unexpectedly stop, the zoom gently slows down the movement of the lens at the end stops.
By using a LANC device the operator may build his or her setup, like shoulder, Steadicam or Gimbal applications. Thus, the CDM-LWZ3-Z2 makes an all-day companion for the Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100 mm/T2.9-3.9 T zoom lens (ZEISS LWZ.3) and gives the camera operator the freedom of creativity needed.
All camera control signals are forwarded
Also, Chrosziel offers a variety of power cables with straight and angled plugs for all types of camera power out sockets and batteries including camera run / stop functionality (see PDF for download).
LEMO compatible 0B 5-Pin socket (camera start / stop, power)
2.5 mm Jack port (control command In / Out)
3.5 mm Jack port (control command In / Out)

Take four: zoom servo drive zoom modes
For freedom of creativity the operator may choose from four different zoom modes: EB / Documentary Mode, Live / Hardcut Mode, Silent, and Direct Mode.
EB / Documentary Mode
Designed for long and smooth zoom drives with the CDM-LWZ3-Z2 it offers slow creeping zoom transitions while keeping the motive perfectly framed.
Silent Mode
To reduce the sound of the zoom servo drive the maximum speed of its motor is limited to 40 percent making the setup almost inaudible.
Live / Hardcut Mode
To catch the best moments, the Live / Hardcut Mode is useful. It uses 80 percent of the maximum speed capacity of the motor offering fast zoom drives but with Soft Ramping.
Direct Mode
The Direct Mode finally uses the full speed capacity of the Zoom Servo Drive. The LANC commands are implemented instantaneously without ramping and smooth transitions. Useful for B camera operators catching snaps shots from the concert.
How to switch zoom modes
You can choose the different modes by pressing the zoom rocker for round about 25 seconds, then the green LED flashes very fast while changing the zoom mode and after that it blinks 1, 2, 3 or 4 times* – depends on the zoom mode you chose (* 1 = EB / Documentary / 2 = Silent / 3 = Live / Hard Cut / 4 = Direct). To cycle through these all you need to do is hold the zoom rocker down one way for a couple of seconds to switch to the next mode, and the other way, hold to reverse.
CDM-EZ-Z2 - compact control-unit for Angenieux EZ-1 and EZ-2 for controlling zoom. For usage with orig. Sony handgrip (PXW-FS5, PXW-FS7, PXW-FX9) or LANC zoom devices. Incl. 1x digital servo-motor-unit, 1x LANC cable, 1x LANC extension cable, 1x CAB-FX9 Sony Multi cable, 1 x MN-AB-A90 (powercable 12 Volt A/B D-Tap 0B 5pin angled), 1x Allen Key, 1x Mini-USBadapter.The Zoom Servo Drive 2 is a compact unit consisting of a digital motor and motor control. The Zoom Servo Drive 2 is firmly screwed to a manual cinema zoom lens and allows the zoom function of the popular large sensor cameras to be remotely controlled using the camera's multifunctional handle. This gives cameraman a larger selection of lenses with optimal operation.
The Zoom Servo Drive 2 fits seamlessly into the operating functions of the Sony cameras FS7 / FS5 and FX9 / FX6 series. The Servo Drive 2 is controlled through the zoom rocker on the handle. The motor control can be addressed via the well-known LANC protocol and also works independently of the camera signals if a LANC zoom rocker is plugged directly into the servo.Internally, the Zoom Servo Drive 2 works with four different modes: documentary mode, silent mode, Live / hard cut mode and direct mode. All modes are optimized for fast or evenly slow focal length adjustment depending on the creative task. When the Servo Drive 2 is screwed to the lens, it calibrates itself to the zoom range of the lens the first time it is switched on and registers the end stops. Each zoom run is smoothly slowed down before the end stop is reached, so that it pleasantly changes into a steady state in the image. This means that the lens is not subjected to much mechanical stress. The power source of the servo is the camera battery. The servo is designed with 10-30V, suitable for use on many different camera models. Cables for the power supply are available for all existent plug connections.
The Zoom Servo Drive 2 is available for each lens model for the following zoom lenses:
Angenieux EZ-1 30-90mm und Angenieux EZ-2 15-40mm
Fujinon MK 18-55mm and Fujinon MK 50-135mm
